How important are followers for your business?

I wanted to share a current and relevant post in the cyber world which tackles the question of legitimacy in having followers.  This post, "Why You Need Social Media Followers Who Won't Ever Buy," written by Pamela Vaughan, is on the topic of more vs quality followers.  Pamela comes down on the side of "more" is better.  It's basically the exponential theme.  They tell 3 friends, and their friends tell 3 friends and so on.

What is true is that the more you are noticed on the internet, the higher your google rating will be.  And we all want to be on the first search page, don't we?

Maybe it will clear up some questions you may have about the value of having "likes" on your business Facebook pages or Tweet followers.  Or maybe you've had a different experience you'd like to share.

Feel free to weigh in on this topic.  I'd like to hear your experiences.

  1. I would like a bit of both, if I could have it. A lot of quality followers. :) Because you can have as many followers as you want, but if those followers don't do anything but read your blog (like no sharing, etc), they aren't considered quality followers to me.
